Dear Friend:
For the past ten years, you have given me the distinct honor of representing District 37 in the New Jersey Assembly. Together, with your continuous support and encouragement, we have been able to accomplish many feats both in Bergen County and in Trenton. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the event celebrating this milestone. The evening was a huge success filled with many memories and we had fun looking back at all we have achieved together.
10 Years in the Legislature - A Decade of Service
NJ’s Most Effective Lawmakers
It is certainly an achievement to be the second most productive member of the New Jersey Legislature
Throughout the course of the 216th legislative session, 61 bills that I sponsored were signed into law. This includes improved oversight of facilities caring for patients with dementia, assistance for victims of sexual assault who are seeking protective orders against their perpetrators, and a guarantee that our most vulnerable population, those with developmental disabilities, are able to stay in facilities that are providing them with the essential care they need. With your help, I will continue to advocate for our State’s most vulnerable citizens.
New Jersey Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect
Speaker Prieto recently appointed me as a legislative representative to the New Jersey Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect. Providing a stable environment and necessary tools to protect our children is a responsibility that needs to be taken very seriously. I look forward to learning more from the distinguished professionals that work as part of this task force and will continue to do all that I can to protect our children’s rights.
Assembly Women’s History Month Celebration
I had the unique opportunity to recognize five inspiring women for their outstanding accomplishments and efforts to combat poverty in New Jersey. These women are dedicated, hard-working leaders who serve as role models in their communities. Congratulations again to Serena Rice of the Anti-Poverty Network, Julia D’Angelo Orlando of the Bergen County Homeless Shelter, Deacon Diane Riley of the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Dr. Stephanie Hoopes of United Way of Northern New Jersey, and Joyce Campbell of Catholic Charities for improving and making a difference in the lives of others.
Young Women’s Leadership Program
I am proud to sponsor the fifth year of my Young Women’s Leadership Program. The mission of this program is to inspire more young women to become knowledgeable and engaged in the many civic and government leadership opportunities that are available.
As part of the program, the participants are involved in discussions on key issues affecting New Jersey on both a statewide and local level, including Tobacco 21, gender-neutral restrooms, and school security. A focus of the program is to recognize the role of women in government and the contributions of female leaders.
Congratulations to our 2016 Young Women Leaders:
